Are you walking distance from the hovercraft terminal?

Yes. We are approximately a 10-minute walk along the seafront.

Is parking easy near The Duck?

There is plenty of street parking available at the front of the building, payable at the machine or via the PayByPhone app using location number 84005 (Canoe Lake Road).

Free street parking is also available behind the restaurant on Appley Rise.

Is there disabled access?

Our restaurant is over two floors. Our main dining area is downstairs, and we have ramps available for the front door. The restrooms, however, are upstairs which can be accessed via the lift. The lift has a 400kg weight limit so it is unable to take some motorised scooters.

Are dogs allowed in the restaurant?

No. Unfortunately we DO NOT allow dogs in the restaurant unless they are guide/ability dogs.

Are children welcome?

We welcome well behaved children and have a small children’s menu available for them. We only have 2 highchairs available so please make the staff aware if you need one at the time of booking.

Bookings

Can you accommodate children?

Families & Young Guests
We warmly welcome children and offer a small children’s menu for our younger guests. Children are important to us and may require extra care and space, so please let us know at the time of booking if you will be bringing a child—they count as an additional guest.

As space in the restaurant is limited, we kindly ask that you inform us in advance if you will have a pram with you. Where possible, we encourage guests to bring a foldable pushchair.

Please note that we have only two highchairs available, and these must be reserved at the time of booking.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Why do you need to secure the booking with a my card details?

We do not take any money unless you cancel less than 24hours before your booking or do not turn up. Being a small restaurant, we really suffer financially when parties do not turn up for their bookings as it means the table is left empty. It is also unfair on all the other customers who we have had to turn away during the week, who would have liked to dine on that table at that time.

Do I need to book?

Being a small and busy restaurant, we often get fully booked. Although we can sometimes accommodate walk-ins, we always advise people to book, (especially for Fridays and Saturdays), to avoid disappointment. Booking is easy with our online booking system just follow the link – https://www.theduckiow.co.uk/book/

Our Food

Alcohol and Young people?

CHALLENGE 25 – If you are lucky enough to look under 25, please remember to bring your ID as you will be asked for it!

Research shows that drinking alcohol in childhood can impact on the healthy development of organs so The Duck has a policy that no one under the age of 18 can consume any alcohol on its premises. (This includes wine, beer and cider)

Special Requests

Can I bring my own cake?

We kindly ask that guests refrain from bringing in outside cakes or food. However, we’re more than happy to add a candle to any of our desserts to help you celebrate special occasions.

Thank you for your understanding.

Can I bring my dog to your restuarant?

No. Unfortunately we DO NOT allow dogs in the restaurant unless they are guide/ability dogs.

Can you accommodate larger parties or private dining?

No, we can not accommodated larger parties as our kitchen is not set up for larger groups

Do you cater to people with special diets?

We want people on specific diets to feel included and welcome which is why we like to talk to our customer about how we can alter some dishes to make them gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan etc. If there is a certain ingredient in one of our dishes that you cannot eat, you are more than welcome to ask for it to come without and we will try are best to accommodate all requests.

Payments & Giftcards

Do you do gift cards?

We certainly do! Why not treat someone to a meal with one of our gift cards?

You can top up a card with any amount by popping into the restaurant, or purchase a digital version by following the instructions on our website.

Gift cards are valid for 12 months only and can be used on any date except Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

Please remember to let us know if you’ll be using a gift card when you make your booking.

Do you charge for service?

We do not apply a service charge to our bills. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that your experience at The Duck is enjoyable, and any gratuities you choose to leave are gratefully received and shared equally among all staff members.
